Learning Inquiry Harvest: Putting Learnings into Action
From the CIP Learning Inquiry, in participants' own words...
+ Our organization is constructing a series of Lotus Notes Knowledge Bases for the business partners we work with worldwide. I have learned much about how to set up a Notes project, the steps that are necessary for smooth functioning of the setup and development from the way CIP has been orchestrated. As a result, I have fed a steady stream of requirements back to our team, complete with examples of how you are doing CIP. The team members responsible for developing these knowledgebases are scattered throughout the world. I have been feeding back to the team, observations about some of the practices in CIP and experiences so far. + I have organized a List Serve with eight members to review a public course we all teach for [my organization]. I have organized the process into weekly rounds. The first and last round is modeled after the Circle and Talking Stick. The middle rounds are assigned topics with an overlay of an ongoing Open Space. + I could have used some comparable combination of the 4 activities I have experienced here three years ago to facilitate a group of senior officers who were rethinking their business strategy -- a good fit with the type of task (required reflection and deepening of trust, mutual understanding in an environment of ambiguity); with their ability to convene; and the length of time they had to complete their work. + I have just a glimmering of how forming a learning community such as this within an organization could contribute to and benefit large scale redesign activities of the organization.
